News for those both inside and outside Scotland: I’ll be appearing on a live broadcast as part of the University of Strathclyde’s HaSS Seminar series this Wednesday (8th March) at 4pm.
Hosted by Sindhu Rajasekaran (author of Smashing The Patriarchy), and also featuring renowned essayist Mirri Glasson-Darling, historical novelist Andrew McLean and author Scott McNee, we’ll be discussing notions of what (if any) difference there is between creative and critical writing. I may have given away my position there.
As anyone who’s read my recent Shoreline of Infinity columns may gather, I love to mess around with these kinds of perceived boundaries. Indeed, it’s part of what I’m exploring in the creative core of my thesis. I’m really looking forward to discussing this further with author friends from such different backgrounds. I think this could be really fun.
If you’re in the Glasgow area, you can join us in person in the Graham Hills Building (50 George ST, G1 1QE) in room GH713, with the event kicking off at 4pm.
If you’re not… well, I’m not posting the Zoom details on here (trolling is still a fun game for some people). However, if you drop me an email, I’ll be happy to share them.
If you can’t make the roundtable, there’s plenty more to come. Looking ahead, Shoreline of Infinity will be publishing my latest column in the Noise and Sparks series in the next couple of months. I’m also hoping to make some online appearances at this year’s Eastercon (Conversation 2023). And before all of that, Charly Harbord and I will be presenting our Fantasy and Gaming Special Issue of the British Fantasy Society Journal to you all. Here’s hoping you enjoy it as much as we have in putting it together.
