Gosh, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Good thing I’ve got a tonne of news for you. Next month, I’ll be at Fantasycon, Pictcon and at various events for Haverin, the anthology celebrating 40 years of the Glasgow SF Writers’ Circle. So, how about we start there, with two launch parties in Glasgow and details of what I’ve got inside?
Haverin is the latest anthology from the venerable Glasgow SF Writers’ Circle, a creative writing critique group for authors of science fiction, fantasy, and everything in between since 1986. Edited by Brian M. Milton, Peter Morrison and Heather Valentine, and with some lovely fairytale artwork by Jenni Coutts, Haverin features tales by the likes of Christopher Caldwell, Eliza Chan, Hal Duncan, E.M. Faulds, Elaine Gallagher, Cameron Johnston, Neil Williamson… In short, it’s a sterling collection of celebrated Scottish writers from across Science Fiction and Fantasy, and your new favourite author just might be waiting inside.
Also it’s got my story ‘Dead Notice’, which first appeared in Flash Point SF in 2024.
The GSFWC has been a part of my life for a long time and it’s meant a great deal to me to not only have their creative support, but also their camaraderie since long before I was even invited to the group. Thirty Years of Rain, their 30th anniversary anthology, came out shortly after I moved to Glasgow, and it’s lovely to have another Circle anthology marking my tenth anniversary in Scotland.
Haverin will launch at two events in October – one at a convention, one in Glasgow. Here’s what you need to know.
